Round 3 Preparations For Loading

I wrote this to the three people starting hcg for the first time this weekend with me as I enter my third round.

The two days of loading before beginning the very low calorie diet with hcg are meant to provide your body with fats for transitioning in the first few days. Loading properly will help with hunger while the hcg is kicking into overdrive.

You start the morning of your first loading day with your weight and your first dose of drops or injection. If on drops, space them out evenly throughout the day. They don't have to be at the same exact time each day, but someone near helps.

Load with good healthy fats and some carbs as well as things you will miss while on the diet. You don't have to stuff yourself to oblivion though. Use full fat items that you might usually use fat free versions like mayo, cream cheese, cheeses, sour cream, ice cream, yogurt etc. Use real butter, olive oil, canola oil, for cooking etc. Choose full fat oil-based salad dressings. Avocados, walnuts, macadamia nuts, almonds, olives, peanut butter, eggs, bacon, fatty cuts of meats, fried foods, cream sauces, etc are all good choices for loading too. You don't have to eat all these things, but do go a bit overboard. Don't stuff yourself too much with sugars, although enjoy that cheesecake or chocolate cake, etc.. but just do it as a compliment to all the healthy fats. Sugars in excess can make you crave more in the first few days.

Get in 2 or 3 meals and a few fat-loaded snacks. Don't worry about the gain, it comes right back off in the first few days.

Don't by a ton of these type groceries because you'll see them in the house and want them or will have to toss them or give them away.

I've ended up with alot of cheese in the house from being on maintenance. Sunday being Superbowl.. I'm cutting all of it up and leaving it out for people to snack on. Dinner Sunday night is going to be eggs (with cheese) and bacon.

Once you start this diet you need to follow it through to at least 30 days.. 2 days of loading with the hcg drops, 28 days of low calorie diet (500 calories a day from the Pounds and Inches Protocol) while taking the drops, and 48 hours (if using homeopathic hcg) or 72 hours (if using rx grade hcg) of the low calorie diet without the drops at the end before moving to Phase 3, the first 21 days of maintenance. Stopping somewhere in between can really do more damage than good and likely cause you to gain the weight back. Following through, you'll be amazed at the rapid results, and at how you can eat a normal amount of calories in maintenance and maintain your weight.  Yes I know that protocol talks about 23 days or 40 days, but it's recently becoming evident that people stabilize better if they have done at least 30 days of hcg before ending a round.  You can go longer.

    I'm using your blog as a guide for my hcg journey. I've been on phase 2 for 8 days and have lost a total of 8 pounds so far ( and I was even ony period-yuck!) I have a question- I noticed you tend to stay in phase 2 longer the second time around. I am going to Vegas in march which I KNOW I am going to want to enjoy myself but if I do phase 2 for 40 days, it will put my Vegas trip on day 6 of phase 3. My question is how long should I stay in my first phase 2? I don't know if I should make it shorter so I can have a longer phase 3 before going to Vegas or just stick with the 40 days. I know I am being a bit obsessive, and crazy but that's me, haha!!! Omg this was so long...sorry!!!!

  2. I'm glad you like the blog.

    I stayed in my second round longer because of my cheat at Thanksgiving. It set me back several days and I was determined to get below 160 lbs before I stopped.

    Although the minimum is 23 days of dosing, people seem to stabilize better if they have done 30 days of dosing. You really will do better in Vegas if you are in P4. If you know you're going to need another round, I'd stop this one at 30 days so that you're almost to the end of P3 when you go to Vegas. Totally up to you. I just know it's very hard to control adding sugars and starches when going to restaurants, etc.

    You 8 day loss so far is fantastic!

I'll do this round for 30 days and then P3, then 3 weeks of P4 then I will do my R2 P2 and see if I can do it into the 50s, like you. I was always planning on doing another round, so it works out.   4. Hi Beth,
    Kirsten and I are beginning Round 1, Phase 2, Day 1 tomorrow. I am using Mediral HCG Detox drops. Plan on starting with 20 dropx 3x a day and loading Saturday/Sunday.
    We have accumulated a large library of reading material and feel more than slightly intimadated.
    Do you have any words of wisdom as we begin?

  5. 20 drops a dose? Is that what the Mediral says?

    As for advice.. Make sure you load well, read Pounds and Inches inside and out and know what foods you can and can not have in Phase 2. Eat all your allowed foods at least in the first week to combat any hunger. Space them out so that your fruits are snacks. Use a calorie tracker and weigh everything that goes in your mouth. Add up your protein choices, fruits, melba/grissini if you are having them, and fill the remaining calories in with your lunch and dinner veggie choices. After a while you'll get an idea of just how much of each veggie you can have and still be under 500 calories.

  7. New question: last night I was watching a You Tube video that suggested we use Ketone strips to monitor ketosis.

    What is your opinion?

    BTW, thanks for monitoring this and being so prompt in your responses. It lets me focus on the diet knowing someone is there to answer questions.

  8. I think a lot of people do 10 drops 3 times a day of Mediral. There weren't instructions?

    I have ketostix but really it's more of a crutch I guess.. In Round 1, I rarely saw much of a result on the ketostix yet I averaged .75 lbs per day. In Round 2, I averaged more like .5 lbs per day and the ketostix always showed something on them.

  9. Loading Day 2
    I think I overdid Loading yesterday. I was nauseated when I went to bed and woke up with dinner in my throat. I don't have a gall bladder so my body cannot easily adjust to a rapid increase in fat consumption Taking it slower today. Can the hHCG make upset your stomach?

    I have a few questions I can't find answers to: How much time should elapse between taking the drops? Is it okay to continue taking Aloe Juice (pure, not sweethened) during Phase 2? Is it okay to use Oil of Olay Complete - it says it is oil free? Sensodyne ProDental toothpaste? Lipstick brands? Are cosmetics/soaps with Glycerine in them okay to use?

  10. I'm taking it slower today also. Overdid the fats yesterday even for a loading day. You're stomach is likely upset from the fats.

    Just space your drops out somewhat evenly through the day.. if they are 3 times a day perhaps 6 hours apart.

    You can use any oil free products. The toothpaste shouldn't be an issue because you rinse it back out. I'm not sure there are any lipstick brands. I'm not a lipstick wearer at all. I read that glycerine can cause cravings. I'm not too positive one way or the other on it.

  11. I read to stop taking supplements but now I am wondering. D3? Slo Niacin? Chinese Herb "Vitality"? Vitamin C? Metamucil Capsules? Would greatly appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks so much for your help!

  13. Soap type? I read Dial was okay so I bought it but it feel 'greasy' when I shower. I read the label and nothing said 'oil' but what are all those other things? If not Dial, what is a good soap to use for everyday showering, etc.?

    So far down 3 lbs. since Sunday. Good energy level and no super hunger attacks. 12 drops 3x a day.


    BTW, did you decide to change from hhcg to shots? If so, why?

    My friend and I are finishing Phase 2 -- 2 weeks from yesterday. To date I have lost 16 lbs. Any special hints for Phase 3? How have you done using something different than the homeopathic drops? I am wondering whether or not to go with the straight Sublingual HCG for ronund 2.

  17. Cascadel... great job! Go slow adding new things in Phase 3. Increase your calories over the first few days. Add things like dairy, eggs, nuts, cheese, separately.. watching the scale for the next two days for sensitivities.

    I've liked the injections, but overall think the drops worked just as well for me. Also with the drops I didn't have to play with my dose at all. Didn't deal with much hunger, etc

    I completed Round 1 losing 20.5 lbs and kept to that weight through P3. Now on my second round of hhcg - Mediral brand, HCG detox -- same thing I used on Round 1. It does not seem to be working. Is there any information that this is not one of the brands that have good hcg?

  20. Is it a new bottle or the same bottle that you used in your first round? It was my understanding that Mediral is no longer making the HCG detox drops. If you have one of their bottles, check to make sure it says it has HCG 6x, 12x, 30x, 60x on the label. If it's the same bottle you ended the round on, they are only good opened for about 10 to 12 weeks.

  21. It was an unopened bottle I ordered a package of about 1-2 months ago. I checked the label with a previously opened bottle when they came and the labels are identical with only the lot numbers being higher.

    R2P3. Gaining weight! I lost 18 lbs on R2P2 and started stopped hHcg drops last Friday. Since that time I have gained every single day. My weigh in this morning I gained 1 full pound. Steak day? Apple after noon? What next?

  23. if you are over the 2 lb range from your LDW then yes, steak day.. 12 to 16 oz of a good fatty steak (ribeye or new york) and an apple or a tomato. You can eat early if you want, even like 4:30ish.

  24. I followed protocol exactly – water all day until 4:30 – ate an apple. Had a big rib steak at 5:30. Nothing else. Went from 150.8 to 150. What do I do next to get back to my 148.6 weight?

  25. I'd follow up with some clean P3 eating. Limit your dairy, no cheese, nuts, etc. Have you gone slowly adding foods?

    I began the diet and this blog last February and was very successful. I lost 45 lbs. by June when I went through Phases 3 and 4. I have regained 10 lbs and want to lose an additional 10 lbs. Unfortunately the HHCG world seems to have changed since I last ordered my drops.

    I am put off by the 'look alike' HHCG I am reading about and I am queasy about self-injecting. Can you recommend a valid supplier of sub-lingual drops? Or a safe supplier of injectible HCG and why you think this is superior to the sublingual choices.

    Your assistance it greatly appreciated. Following you last winter gave me faith to continue and succeed and I learned to trust your knowledge. The amount of information available right now is over-whelming to me. Can you help or point me to links that you trust?

  28. For sublingual rx I think the only ones I know that are premixed are the miracleskinnydrops. For RX that you mix yourself it would be alldaychemist.com
